Acer 'Skeeter's Broom'

Acer palmatum Skeeter's Broom is a deciduous shrub that bears colour-changing leaves throughout the seasons. Its five-lobed foliage allows each leaf to show off outstanding shades, starting with bright red in Spring, deep purple-red in Summer and a ruby-red in Autumn. This plant, which can be grown as a small tree, provides good presence when it reaches its ultimate height and spread of up to 2.5m.

Acers can be cared for with relative ease. Plant in an area of partial shade and aim to avoid long periods of exposure to full sunlight. It can tolerate most soil types, requiring you keep it moist, well-drained and ensure watering is kept to a regular, consistent level.
