Carpinus 'Fastigiata' makes a great statement in a garden with its tall, slender flame-shape. It is ideal to plant in tight spaces or in smaller gardens where spreading trees cannot be accommodated.
Upright Hornbeam trees have dense glossy mid-green, deeply ribbed leaves which appear in spring and last through the summer. As autumn approaches they put on a show when the foliage turns to a lovely yellow and orange. Spring sees pendulous green catkins handing from the branches which are followed by winged fruits. The leaves fall in winter, leaving an imposing shape of bare branches.
Your Upright Hornbeam tree is extremely tough and tolerant of a wide range of soil types and conditions. It ideal for exposed regions and the cooler northern regions. The tree attracts an abundance of wildlife bringing sound and movement into your outdoor living space. Apart from bees, butterflies and birds, it is attractive to the rare hawfinch and a wide variety of moths.
