Betula utilis Whiteness is a deciduous tree that bears eye-catching, white, exfoliating bark. This becomes a standout, year-round feature of the tree, especially in Winter when its branches are bare. Catkins form in Spring, before green foliage appears in Summer and a golden-yellow colour in Autumn. The elegant, white bark of this Betula stays throughout the year, whilst its catkins and leaves provide additional interest.
More commonly known as Himalayan Birch, this variety prefers to be grown in fertile, moist and well-drained soil, meaning regular watering is necessary for adequate progression. It can be grown in full sunlight or partial shade. The ultimate height and spread of this Betula is 8m in height and 4m in spread, over the course of 20 years.
