The Liquidambar styraciflua more commonly known as the Sweet Gum ‘Lane Roberts’ is a beautiful deciduous with large dark green star-shaped leaves that turn crimson in Autumn. The tree itself being native to Eastern USA, where it has been known to grow to impressive heights. This variety is significantly smaller than its parent, making it ideal for gardens.
Sweet Gum takes the spotlight in Autumn giving a stunning show of colour, producing Autumnal colours of burgundy and deep red. The bark of the Liquidambar styraciflua is smooth and grey.
Liquidambar styraciflua is both smaller in stature and tighter in its pyramidal shape than the other species. This specimen of Sweet Gum is an excellent choice for gardens that are looking for or can handle a slightly larger tree.
